The official website for the live-action Ultraman Saga film posted a new 30-second advertisement this week. The ad focuses on Ultraman Dyna, and features the song "Kimi Dake o Mamoritai" ("I Want To Project Just You"), performed by the character's actor Takeshi Tsuruno. Several other trailers have been posted in previous months for the film, which feature the seven members of the all-female idol group AKB48 as Earth Defense Force's "Team U" and the three Ultraman heroes, including BREAKERZ musician DAIGO as Ultraman Zero/Nozomu Taiga.
Ultraman Saga's story begins when a mysterious alien invades the Earth. Ultraman Zero, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Cosmos come from outer space and join forces with humankind to restore the peace.
Sayaka Akimoto plays Team U's leader Anna, and the other AKB48 members in the film are Ayaka Umeda (Misato), Sae Miyazawa (Sawa), Kana Kobayashi (Maomi), Yuka Masuda (Nonko), Haruka Shimada (Hina), and Sumire Satō (Riisa). Taiyō Sugiura plays Ultraman Cosmos/Musashi Haruno, while Takeshi Tsuruno plays Ultraman Dyna/Shin Asuka.
Ultraman Saga will open in theaters across Japan on March 24 in 2D, and for the first time in the franchise, in stereoscopic 3D.
