Neurowear, the creators behind the popular necomimi
brain-controlled cat ears, announced on Friday that it is producing a
limited-edition variant inspired by Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children (Ōkami Kodomo
no Ame to Yuki) anime film. Neurowear is only creating six pairs of the Wolf
Children ears — four of which will be given away as prizes in "The Wolf
Children Summer Fair" campaign by the publisher Kadokawa Shoten.
The limited-edition ears are based on the two Wolf
Children in the film, Ame and Yuki. The two children are born after their
mother falls in love with a wolfman. After their father passes away, the two
children and their mother move to a rural village.
The film will open in Japanese theaters on July 2. The
film has been licensed in 34 areas by several international companies,
including Viz Media Europe. However, the rights for North America and the
United Kingdom were still under negotiations as of June 19.
Standard editions of the necomimi ears are available
through several online retailers.
