shipping in spring 2013
The Japanese
animation studio MADHOUSE will again work with the American comic book
publisher Marvel Entertainment to animate a new direct-to-video feature film
titled Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan will
release the film on DVD in spring 2013.
Hiroshi Hamasaki (Shigurui: Death Frenzy, Steins;Gate,
Texhnolyze) is directing the film with story by Brandon Auman (The Avengers:
Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man: Armored Adventures).
Marvel describes the film as follows:
The film explores a confrontation between Iron Man and the
villainous Ezekiel Stane, who develops new bio-technology that seemingly
outclasses the Iron Man armor. After Stane unleashes a terrorist attack and
sets Tony up to take the fall, Iron Man must evade S.H.I.E.L.D.'s man hunt and
find a way to clear his name.
Marvel will reveal more information about the film at New
York Comic Con this weekend.
Marvel and MADHOUSE previously teamed up to create the Iron
Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and Blade television anime series. All four series aired
on the G4 television channel in the United States, and Sony Pictures Home
Entertainment released all four series on DVD in North America earlier this
year.
