On Tuesday, police arrested a 47-year-old male company worker from Tokyo on suspicion of recording and storing the live-action special-effects series Kamen Rider OOO on the server of a foreign video-streaming site without the copyright holders' permission. According to the Association of Copyright for Computer Software, the suspect allegedly recorded the 27th episode of Kamen Rider OOO and stored the video file on the server of FC2, a video-streaming site run by the California-based FC2, Inc., around March 27. At the time of the suspect's arrest, 13 items including a personal computer and a Blu-ray Disc recorder were confiscated.
The suspect allegedly admitted to the acts of copyright violation and said that he has been doing so "since around January of this year." He reportedly said that he saved the files on the network in case his personal computer's hard disk was damaged.
