Latest Vocaloid rhythm titles for PS3/PS Vita, iOS available this year
Japanese game developer Sega began streaming a four-minute announcement video for its tentatively titled "Next Hatsune Miku Project Diva" musical rhythm game and a 151-second "how to play" video for its iOS rhythm game Miku Flick on Thursday.
"Next Hatsune Miku Project Diva" will be the next PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita title in the Project Diva series that features Vocaloid characters such as Hatsune Miku. The game will have two new models ("modules") for in-game characters designed by popular illustrator bob, as well as the inclusion of songs such as "World's End Dance Hall" by wowaka and "Cat Food" by doriko. Sega plans to release the PlayStation Vita version of the game this summer, while the PlayStation 3 edition is slated to ship in 2013.
In Miku Flick, not only does the player have to tap in sync with the music, but also "flick" across Japanese characters to spell out the lyrics. The game has more than one difficulty mode for beginners to experienced players. Sega released the single-player game for 1,200 yen (about US$15) for the iPhone and other iOS devices in Apple's App Store in Japan on March 9. The developer released Miku Flick for US$13.99 in the App Store in the United States on Monday.
